What is rTMS?

rTMS stands for Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. It’s a non-invasive & medication-free treatment that uses magnetic pulses to gently stimulate specific areas of your brain. This stimulation can help regulate activity in brain circuits involved in mood, thoughts, and behaviours, offering relief from symptoms of depression, addiction, and a variety of other conditions. Step 2: Attend a Screening Appointment

Once we receive your TMS referral, you will be invited to attend a Screening Appointment. This will let us understand your history and symptoms better, and allow us to screen you to ensure you're a suitable candidate for rTMS. We will ask you questions about your condition, previous treatments, and some medical questions. All of our Screening appointments are held with qualified clinicians who are experts on rTMS.

What conditions can impact my ability to receive rTMS?

You need to tell your clinician if you have any metal or implanted medical devices (e.g. aneurysm clips, stents, magnetic fragments), a history of seizures, brain damage or other medical conditions.

Is there a charge for Screening?

A chargeable assessment and screening appointment will be required to assess your eligibility for rTMS treatment. The costs for the screening appointment are confirmed to you before you attend, so you're always aware of the costs before you commit! See a full breakdown of our costs for all services on our Costs & Pricing page.

Can NHS patients be referred for rTMS treatment?

rTMS is sadly not commonly available as an NHS service. In some rare cases, it may be available. Always check with your GP and our team to make sure you are aware of all possible treatment pathways for your condition.
