What is an Autism (ASD) Assessment?
An Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessment with us is a thorough evaluation designed to determine if you meet the criteria for an Autism (ASD) diagnosis. We use evidence-based methods, including questionnaires, clinical interviews, and information from family members, to provide a comprehensive picture of your needs. Our Autism Specturm Disorder Assessment Process
Our step-by-step ASD Assessment journey is built to help you feel comfortable in a supportive environment.
Step 1: Submit Your Referral
All of our Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Assessments start the same way, with your self-referral or a referral from another practitioner. You can contact us by phone at 0800 844 5257, email us or use the form below to get in touch!

Step 2: Complete Pre-Assessment Questionnaires
Once we have received your referral, you will be invited to complete some essential online questionnaires. You will then be invited to attend the initial part of your assessment virtually or in person in our Warrington clinic.

Who is a suitable informant?
An informant who has known you since childhood must be present at one if not both of your appointments. This should be a parent or a significantly older sibling.
What if I don't have an Informant?
If you are unable to attend with an informant, please make the clinic aware at your earliest opportunity, and please note: this could impact whether a diagnostic conclusion can be reached.
How do I submit the questionnaires?
You will be sent three questionnaires to complete & submit digitally prior to your first appointment. If you would prefer this questionnaire to be posted, please inform the bookings team by calling 01925691502 or emailing [email protected].

- A Clinical Interview with a practitioner: This takes place virtually or face-to-face and generally lasts 90 minutes.
- A Clinical Interview with a second practitioner: This takes place virtually or face-to-face and generally lasts 90 minutes.
- A Feedback & Outcome Appointment: This can take place either virtually or face-to-face in our Warrington clinic. It will generally last 30 minutes.

Can I complete an Autism Assessment virtually (over the internet)?
Yes, our team are fully equipped to conduct reliable, expert Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments entirely online. All of the consultations, questionnaires, and Clinical Interviews can be held over a video link using our secure video-calling tools. If online doesn't work for you, you can also choose to visit our clinic in Warrington, England.
What happens if I am diagnosed with ASD?
If you do receive a diagnosis of ASD, you will be offered a post-diagnostic appointment to discuss your diagnosis and possible recommendations/resources that may help you.
What happens if I am not diagnosed with ASD?
If you do not receive a diagnosis, you will be discharged from our ASD service back to the care of your GP.
Recommendations or further signposting may be included within your report if applicable. If you are under our service for any other assessment, this discharge will not affect any other assessments and only relates to the ASD pathway.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can adults have both ADHD and Autism?
Yes. It’s increasingly recognised that ADHD and Autism can, and often do, occur together. For many years, it was thought that these conditions were mutually exclusive, but research now shows a significant overlap – estimated to be between 30-80% in some studies.
This can sometimes make diagnosis more complex, as the symptoms of both conditions can overlap or mask each other.
Can I be assessed for both ADHD and Autism?
At Optimise Healthcare Group, our experienced clinicians are skilled in identifying both ADHD and Autism, even when they present together. We offer comprehensive assessments to accurately determine if you meet the diagnostic criteria for either or both conditions, and to develop a tailored support plan to address your individual needs.
